Keller/Anderle is delighted to welcome new partner
Reuben Camper Cahn

Reuben Camper Cahn is one of the finest
lawyers of his generation. In addition to trying more than 100 cases to
jury verdict, Mr. Cahn has argued twice before the United States Supreme
Court (in 2011 and 2018), a combination that is all but unknown.
Mr. Cahn earned is A.B. at
Stanford and his J.D. at Yale, where he was an editor of the Yale Law Journal. After
graduation he clerked for the Honorable Lawrence W. Pierce of the United
States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Mr. Cahn began his career in
New York at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, and then Paul, Weiss,
Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where he worked on securities litigation
and international arbitrations.
Realizing he wanted to try
cases and serve the underrepresented, Mr. Cahn then embarked on a career as
an assistant public defender, where he distinguished himself both as an
advocate and as a leader in the federal defender community. He was
appointed by the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court to review
the Criminal Justice Act, among many other notable appointments and honors.
Mr. Cahn has won multiple awards for his advocacy.
Most recently Mr. Cahn was
Executive Director of Defenders, Inc., in San Diego for 13 years, managing
an office of over 60 attorneys and 140 employees, with a budget of $26
million. At the same time he continued to try cases and argue appeals, including
United States v. Jared
Loughner (9th Circuit, 2017), Tapia v. United States, 564 U.S. 319
(Supreme Court (2011), and United
States v. Sanchez-Gomez, 584 U.S. ___ (2018) (Supreme Court).
Mr. Cahn has defended a wide
range of matters, involving tax, public corruption, fraud, money
laundering, RICO, Continuing Criminal Enterprise prosecutions and virtually
every other type of white collar case. He has been lead counsel in federal
capital cases, including one that resulted in complete acquittal and another
that ended with a unanimous life sentence. Mr. Cahn has been appointed
"counsel learned in the law" by federal judges in over 15 capital
trials.
Additionally, he represented
alleged enemy combatants confined at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base and in
litigation before the District of Columbia Court and the D.C. Circuit Court
of Appeals. His team was one of the very few to complete a contested
evidentiary hearing under the extraordinary rules that govern these cases.
Mr. Cahn holds a Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
At Keller/Anderle Mr. Cahn
focuses on commercial litigation, white collar criminal defense, and
appeals. He brings to his K/A clients the energy and experience honed in
countless jury trials, and in arguments before federal appellate courts and
the highest court in the land.
