Rapper T.I. Harris and the girl group, OMG Girlz made allegations against MGA of misappropriation of their name and likenesses, trade dress infringement, and unfair competition. The former girl group claimed that MGA’s L.O.L. Surprise! dolls’ names and appearances were intentionally designed to look like the members of the girl group and sought $300 million in damages. In less than two hours after closing arguments, a federal jury in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California returned a unanimous defense verdict for MGA.
